Chelsea Piers July 9, 2009 ![]() Pictured from left to right, ConEdison Solutions CEO Jorge Lopez, Community Energy EVP Brent Alderfer, NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn, and Chelsea Piers EVP David Tewksbury help turn the "The Big Apple" into "The Big Green Apple." They came together during Earth Week 2009 to announce Chelsea Piers' status as NYC’s largest commercial customer of 100 percent wind power.
Where does the Big Apple get its energy? From wind power! When one of America's top wind power providers wanted to showcase a massive purchase of "green energy" by a high-profile Manhattan client, they called upon The Marino Organization to make it all happen. In April, TMO partnered with our long-time client, ConEdison Solutions, to orchestrate an ambitious event that leveraged our agency's convergence of capabilities in media relations, public affairs, event management and community affairs. ConEdison Solutions was honoring Chelsea Piers -- the country's largest sports/entertainment complex -- as the city's largest commercial user of 100-percent wind power. Nineteen other ConEdison Solutions "green" customers were also recognized. A classroom of excited fifth-graders showed off their recycled artwork. And City Council Speaker Christine Quinn took part as well. Before a full bank of TV cameras, reporters and photographers, the ceremony attracted coverage from the New York Times , the New York Daily News, Newsday and six TV stations. We also got pickup on multiple radio stations, trade outlets in the real estate, energy and environmental fields, and many other outlets. Most important, we delivered for our client, who counted upon TMO to produce a world-class media event that would help achieve their business objectives. ConEdison Solutions enriched relations with key customers and bolstered their status as a top energy service provider before a national audience. They were blown away!
